A friendly and historic community club, Hill Lane Tennis operates across two nearby sites in Plymouth, offering fantastic facilities for players of all ages and abilities. The club is steeped in history, having hosted Great Britain vs. Monaco in a Davis Cup tie in 1931, which featured the debut of the legendary Fred Perry.

The club’s facilities are split between two locations: the Hill Lane (PL3 5QR) site is dedicated to the thriving junior section, while the Lockington Avenue site, just 200m away, caters to adult members and hosts competitive matches. In total, the club boasts seven courts, five of which are floodlit for all-year play until 10 pm. The court surfaces are a high-quality artificial grass, ensuring a great playing experience.

Coaching is delivered by the professional team at Top Bounce, offering a full pathway for players of all levels. There are weekly group sessions for juniors (Saturdays and Thursdays), and for adults, there are popular “Rusty Rackets” sessions for beginners/improvers (Mondays) as well as member-only coaching.

The club has a vibrant social scene with regular, friendly “turn up and play” sessions for adult members on Tuesday/Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, along with various social events like quizzes and BBQs held throughout the year. Competitive opportunities are also plentiful, with multiple teams entered into local leagues.

Hill Lane is known for its affordability and welcoming atmosphere, offering a range of membership options. As of early 2025, annual rates are approximately £175 for adults, £85 for students, and £40-£55 for juniors, with family packages also available.
